Wu Named Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professor
Posted on December 17, 2024
Dr. I-Heng (Ray) Wu, an assistant professor of management in the Mitchell College of Business, has been named one of the 50 Best Undergraduate Business Professors by Poets & Quants, a publication that covers business schools globally.
Wu, who arrived at South in 2021, is the first Mitchell College of Business professor to win this honor. He was nominated by 13 of his former students and several of his colleagues. The editorial team at Poets & Quants individually evaluated every nomination. Each professor was assigned a 1-to-10 score based on their research and teaching accolades.
"I sincerely appreciate them each taking the time to write me a very nice nomination. Without their kind words, I would not be on the list,鈥 Wu said.
The 50 winners represented 43 different institutions, including highly ranked business schools from the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, University of Southern California and five international universities.
鈥淚 believe that winning this award shows that our professors in the Mitchell College of Business also provide quality educational experiences as do those from other prestigious business schools,鈥 Wu said.
91桃色 Student Government Association President Hank Radar was one of those who wrote a nomination letter for Wu. In it, Radar wrote that Wu went out of his way, scheduling a meeting with Radar, to find out why a test score he had received didn鈥檛 reflect the ability he had shown in a Principles of Management class.
鈥淗e offered support and guidance, questioning if his teaching methods may have caused the situation,鈥 Radar told Poets & Quants. 鈥淭his conversation motivated me to strive for improvement. He saw his students for who we could be, and when he didn鈥檛 see the results he had expected, his hopes turned to genuine care.鈥
Wu says he enjoys connecting with his students, learning about their experiences and perspective. Their success is his, as well.
"I am grateful for being given the privilege to be a college professor,鈥 he said. 鈥淭here are a lot of things I am grateful for on a daily basis."
