Appointment Types

Here, you can see the purpose of each appointment we offer and how it can be used to promote your professional growth.

â–¼   Career and Major Exploration
Sometimes getting started can be the hardest part of the decision-making process. The Career and Major Exploration appointment is a great opportunity for you to meet with a career consultant to discuss your interests, skills, and passions, as well as your career-related goals and the action steps needed to achieve them. At the end of your appointment you should have a clearer understanding of resources and strategies that can help you make confident decisions with your major or career.
â–¼   Co-op/Internship Assistance
Experiential learning, like co-ops or internships, serve as professional development currency in the workforce and graduate schools. In a Co-op/Internship Assistance appointment you will work with a career consultant to identify when and how to get started, what to do before and during an internship, and why these types of experiences are important for your life after college. This might include a series of appointments to track your progress and reassess your search strategies, as needed.
â–¼   e-Branding Review
Marketing yourself effectively on digital platforms like Handshake, LinkedIn, and the LevelUP e-portfolio has been made easy with the e-Branding Review appointment. Meet with a career consultant to learn about how to build your professional presence online and grow your profile confidence with these digital platforms. This may include a series of appointments to gradually grow your profile strength, cultivate your content with meaningful experiences that include measurable outcomes and quantitative data, and strategies for leveraging your e-brand when networking or submitting applications.
â–¼   Graduate School Preparation
Preparing for graduate and professional schools doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Meeting with a career consultant for a Graduate School Assistance appointment can help you to better prepare for each step of the journey: Searching/Researching Programs, Applying, Interviewing, and Accepting. This can also include topics such as CVs, Personal Statements, and Letters of Recommendations.
â–¼   Interview Prep

Preparation and practice are key. In a series of Interview Prep appointments, you'll discuss preparation strategies with a Career Consultant and have a chance to practice your interview script. In the appointments leading up to a mock interview, you'll receive feedback and suggestions on how to interview confidently. This might include meeting with a Career Consultant to discuss what to do before, during, and after an interview. When you're ready to schedule your mock interview, you'll share a description of the position with a Career Consultant so they can tailor the practice session to your needs. Goals for these appointments might be to gain a clearer understanding of how well your answers meet interviewer expectations and to identify the necessary steps for further improvement.

â–¼   Job Search Assistance
Looking for a job can be a full-time job! The Job Search Assistance appointment is a chance for you to meet with a career consultant to develop an effective job search strategy. This might include a series of appointments to discuss your occupations and organizations of interest, your personalized elements of a successful job search, and strategies for preparing for an interview.
â–¼   Resume Development
Your resume gets you the interview- not the job. The Resume Development appointment is a chance for you to make sure you are providing the right amount and type of information for interview consideration without overloading the resume reader. Since many organizations use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to review documents submitted through online portals, it’s also very important to make sure your resume is AI-friendly. At the end of your appointment you should have a clearer understanding of the basic format and content of a resume and how to get past ATS.
