Pre-Health Letter of Recommendations and Pre-health Workshop Information

Letters of Recommendation/Evaluation - For Students
For AMCAS Allopathic Programs:
- Provide all of your Letter Writers with the Letter Writer Instructions and deadlines. (Within the AMCAS Application, there are "how-to" videos if you need additional assistance.
- Print the Letter Request PDF Form (found on the Main Menu of the application within the Letters of Evaluation section).
- Know your Letter ID (a unique 7-digit number assigned to each letter entry on your AMCAS application.)
- Each letter writer should be provided the Letter ID number to properly match their letters.
- Do not delay submitting your application because you are waiting on your letters. These will not be uploaded until after you submit.
- Stay in contact with letter writers. It is your responsibility to keep track of your letters and ensure your letter writers
are aware of deadlines.
- Applications and interviews invitations will not be sent until LoRs are received.
- You can review the status of your letters in the "Letters of Evaluation" or Medical School Summary screen of your AMCAS application.
- Download and email/provide the Letter Writer Instructions pdf to each of your letter writers. If you did not give your letter writers a copy of your resume when you asked if they would writer a recommendation letter include it now.
- Be sure to communicate letters should be on formal institution/company letterhead and handwritten signatures in ink (many programs do not accept digital or electronic signatures).

Students/Letter Writers can use the which allows all participating medical schools to receive letters of recommendation/evaluation electronically and enables letter writers to send all letters to the AMCAS program.
For AACOMAS Osteopathic Programs:
- Each Osteopathic program may have a different letter submission preference. Please check within the AACOMAS application with the school(s) you're applying to to learn their specifications for submission.

Letter of Recommendation (LoR) Submissions:
You must submit your application through the application service (AMCAS, AACOMAS - see links below). Once you've started your application, you will be allowed to upload your letters of recommendation.
Provide your Letter Writer with the Letter Writer Instructions provided by 91ÌÒÉ« Pre-Health advising.

Medical School - AMCAS Allopathic:
- Upload your PDF letter(s) to the AMCAS Application through the . You will need your AAMC ID and AMCAS Letter ID in order to upload your letter.
Medical School - AACOMAS Osteopathic
- Each program may have a different submission process. Applicants will provide you with specifics. You may be able to submit your letter through .
Applicants should provide you with deadlines for their LoRs. Applications and interviews invitations will not be sent until LoRs are received. Please communicate with your student if you're unable to meet the deadline they have provided.

Letters of Recommendation/Evaluation - For Students
Electronic Submission Process:
- Applicant provides the evaluator's email address
- As soon as the evaluator's name and email address are provided, the evaluator receives an email from ADEA CAAPID directing him or her to the ADEA CAAPID Evaluators Portal
- The first time an evaluator enters the Evaluators Portal, the evaluator is asked to provide contact information
- The evaluator follows simple step-by-step instructions for submitting the Letter of Evaluation (ADEA CAAPID can accept electronic Letter of Evaluations in these formats: Microsoft Word (.doc), Rich Text Format (.rtf), Portable Document Format (.pdf), and ASCII text (.txt))
- Monitor the status of your letter(s) in your ADEA CAAPID application. You can view the status in the "Status section"
- Be sure to communicate letters should be on formal institution/company letterhead and handwritten signatures in ink (many programs do not accept digital or electronic signatures).
Letter of Recommendation (LoR) Submissions:
- Up to 4 individual letters are allowed.
You must submit your application through the application service (AADSAS - see link below). Once you've started your application, you will be allowed to upload your letters of recommendation.
