Educational Objectives for Computer Science Majors
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science produces graduates who:
Are skilled, competent, and contribute to the work force in their specialty and/or can continue their education.
Work effectively in teams while exhibiting professional behavior and exercising appropriate leadership within their organization.
Display continued high ethical standards within the community and profession.
Are designing and implementing a plan of continuous learning related to their career.
Have the skills that, combined with the continuous learning, will allow them to advance within their organization and career.
Learning Outcomes for Computer Science Majors
The learning outcomes for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, adapted from those specified by the Computing Accreditation Criteria, for Accrediting Computing Programs. Appendix A, (see ), enables students to achieve, by the time of graduation, an ability to:
Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
