Faculty Positions in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the 91ÌÒÉ« College of Medicine invites applications for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor.  We seek committed and compassionate scientist with expertise in biochemistry and/or molecular biology.  Successful candidates must hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or DVM/PhD degree, be committed to medical and graduate student education, and have a strong record of research productivity. Applicants holding the rank of associate or full professor must have current research support.

The department has diverse research programs focused on the molecular basis of cancer, lung biology/disease, metabolism, genetic variants and cardiovascular disease. The department can offer a competitive start up package, along with excellent laboratory space in the Medical Sciences Building and 91ÌÒÉ«-Mitchell Cancer Institute.  Interdisciplinary interactions with basic, translational, and clinical investigators in the College of Medicine, the Center for Lung Biology, and the Mitchell Cancer Institute are encouraged.  The 91ÌÒÉ« College of Medicine values diversity, equity and inclusion.  We are committed to the creation of a diverse workforce in healthcare and biomedical sciences.  Women and applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations are encouraged to apply.

Although the department has no specific positions available at this time, you may indicate your interest in future tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. A Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and postdoctoral research experience are required. Successful candidates will establish and maintain independent, extramurally-funded research programs and contribute to graduate and medical education. Areas of interest to the department include various aspects of signal transduction in cells of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, epigenetic regulation of gene expression by chromatin remodeling and RNAi, and regulation of actin cytoskeleton. Basic and translational studies are conducted that address problems in cancer cell biology, cardiovascular diseases and lung diseases.  Outstanding candidates conducting state of-the-art research in other areas of biochemistry and molecular biology will also be considered. Opportunities for interdisciplinary interactions with other basic science departments, the Mitchell Cancer Institute and the Center for Lung Biology are available.
